Boys U15 B v St Albans

Result:  Won 5-0

Scorers: Sheehan x2, Blyth x2, Soomro

Review:  This was the U15Bs best game of the season, with crisp passing, good movement and excellent head-up hockey. Sheehan opened the scoring for us with a well struck hit from a short corner. St Albans defended well in the first half, holding us to a 1-0 lead at half time. However, in the second half out pressure began to tell, and our confidence on the ball grew. Roy began to distribute the ball well from the back, and Williams offered real life in the midfield. The goals were well taken - an assured lifted finish from eight yards by Soomro, Sheehan rounded the keeper before slotting home, and Blyth's two were both from short corners returned to injector (Blyth) which were put away with aplomb. The only disappointment was that a ferocious shot from 16 yards by Dom Sheehan hit the crossbar and went off into orbit. We were 2 inches from Goal of the decade.

Star Player: MOTM goes to Blyth but a special mention goes to Angus Taylor, recently promoted from the C team who had a fantastic game at right mid.

Review:   A sleepy start saw us concede two short corners early on, and the second of these was put away. The first half was a scrappy affair, with most of the play straight up the middle of a heavily congested pitch, although we did create some good chances, including a good finish from Dom Sheehan to bring the scores level. The second half was a bit more open, with Oliver Grayson linking up the play very nicely and with better use of the width, particularly from Ed Reid, Ollie Williams and Roshan Soomro. The winner was a stunning drag flick by Dom Sheehan from a short corner.

Boys U15 A v Stamford

Result: Won 4-1

Scorers:

Review: Felsted played host to Stamford and produced some of their best hockey of the season to win comfortably. The game started evenly however Max Malins scored to put the home side one up. Stamford  equalised after their forward was given time and space in the D to put the ball past Connor Joyce. However Felsted started to find their feet and both Tom Kingham and Harry Brooke had good chances. Felsted took a 2-1 lead when Freddie Burns hit a hard shot into the goal following a short corner, however  we started to play some good attacking hockey with the forward line of Will Scott-Bowden, Harry Brooke, Tom Kingham and Oliver Gardiner proving dangerous, providing pace and skill up front which caused the Stamford  defence many a problem in the second half. Brooke in particular was a real threat and did some tireless running. This helped Malins complete his hat-trick to secure a fine victory for the home side.

Review: 2-0 up, but some loose marking cost us as a talented Stamford side came back with a vengeance.

Result: Won 2-1

Review: Tight game from the outset. We went 1-0 up early in the first half through a Sheehan reverse hit. A Flick to Greshams in 2nd half brought it back to 1-1, but a well taken Soomro Winner sealed it in the last five minutes. Excellent contest.

Boys U15 v Bishop's Stortford College

Result: Won 3-0

Review: The U15Bs started very brightly, attacking down the right hand side and winning a short corner in the first couple of minutes. The ball was stopped on the line with a foot, resulting in a Felsted flick. Up stepped Dom Sheehan who put the ball away for an early lead. We continued to attack down that right flank, with Roshan Soomro causing their left back all kinds of problems. It was particularly pleasing how easily we were able to play the ball out from the back, with Reid and Duke offering great width at left and right half, while Ollie Grayson linked up the play brilliantly at centre half. It was a Grayson shot after a good move down the left involving Reid and King, that was heading for the bottom corner when Soomro, with a forward's instinct poached the goal for a 2 goal lead. In the second half, it continued to be a dominant Felsted display, and full backs Pranjal Roy and Ollie Williams both enjoyed a couple of charges up the field. Soomro was able to add one more goal to his tally with a good finish from 15 yards. An excellent display from the boys, and a well deserved win.

Girls U15A v Bishop's Stortford College

29th November Bishop's Stortford College (Away)

Result: Draw 1-1

Review: Felsted dominated this game from start to finish.The score does not reflect the game whatsoever and credit where it is due, Bishop's Stortford were resilient in defence and worked hard defending their goal. Felsted failed to take their opportunities and the numerous shot corners were squandered away through stupidity and complacency. Further, and to add salt to the injury Felsted scored the equalising goal just 3 minutes from time. A lesson has now been learnt by all and in the next session of training the team will learn about a 'killing instinct' - the girls were just far to nice and accommodating to be an effective force. This is going to change.

Girls U15A v Bishop's Stortford College

Result: Lost 2-0

Review: Both teams created chances in the opening exchanges with possession being shared equally between the two teams. However, despite continuous good work down the right hand side by Gemma Foley and Ellie Welsh, Felsted could not register the first goal of the game. With the score line still 0-0 at the end of the first half all was still to play for. Bishop's Stortford started the half at a quick tempo and quickly earnt themselves their first short corner of the game. A well worked move negated Felsted's number one runner and was then converted to open up a 1-0 lead. Felsted kept the pressure on Stortford, with Izzy Moore winning back possession numerous times and threading passes neatly up to the Felsted forward line, but the Bishop's Stortford defensive line stood strong and Felsted couldn't find a way through. A late break away goal tapped in by Stortford's left forward sealed the 2-0 victory for them and left Felsted leaving empty handed. A disappointing day, which ended the U15A recent run of good form. The girls are looking to bounce back on Saturday when they face King's Canterbury at home.

Girls U15B v Woodbridge

19th November Woodbridge (Home)

Result: Won 4-0

Review: Not the best game to watch although Felsted won with plenty to spare. This said, Woodbridge were a nice team and played to their ability. Overall I was disappointed by the standard at which both teams performed. There were some outstanding performances and Luca Goder and Tabitha Temporal are to be congratulated for their superb hockey skills. Felsted can be pleased with this home victory although there is still lots to do in training in preparation for the next game.
